History of Foundation of Japan Academic Association for Copyright Clearance (JAACC)

The Japan Academic Association for Copyright Clearance (JAACC) was founded in 1989 as a copyright management organization called the “Academic Copyright Council” with the cooperation of the Japan Federation of Engineering Society, the Japanese Association for Dental Science, the Association of Japan Agricultural Scientific Societies and the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.

JAACC established the Articles of Association and incorporated in 1999, registered with the Agency for Cultural Affairs as a management organization of copyrights and neighboring rights in 2002, and was reorganized into the present Japan Academic Association for Copyright Clearance in 2003.

Locating the base in Tokyo, Japan, JAACC is managing copyrights and neighboring rights not only in Japan but also internationally as a member of the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organizations (IFRRO).
